FORMULA GALORE was withdrawn on 6.9.16 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FORZA AVANTI (Y T Cheng). Before being allowed to race again, FORMULA GALORE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FORZA AVANTI began awkwardly and lost its right front plate shortly after the start. GREAT SPEED was crowded for room on jumping between SMART GAIN and SHINING CHAMPION which shifted in. In this incident, SMART GAIN became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by GREAT SPEED. Shortly after the start, INTELLECTUAL GLIDE was steadied away from the heels of IDYLLIC WIND which shifted out. From wide barriers, OPTIMISM and KING OF SMARTS were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the 700 Metres, IDYLLIC WIND got its head on the side and lay out and making the turn near the 550 Metres was awkwardly placed inside the heels of GIDDY GIDDY. Near the 650 Metres, SMART GAIN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GIDDY GIDDY. Passing the 250 Metres, FORZA AVANTI was shifted out away from the heels of FOREVER FUN. Close to the finishing line, SHINING CHAMPION was bumped by GREAT SPEED (T H So) which shifted in under pressure. T H So was reprimanded and reminded of his obligation to stop riding and straighten his mounts when they commence to shift ground. Throughout the race, FORZA AVANTI travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, N Rawiller stated that he was instructed to have FOREVER FUN in a forward position. He said FOREVER FUN began awkwardly and then, despite being ridden along in the early stages, did not show the anticipated early speed. He said the race was run at a particularly quick tempo in the early stages which resulted in FOREVER FUN racing further back in the field than had been intended. A veterinary inspection of FOREVER FUN immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, FOREVER FUN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the performance of RUGBY DIAMOND, Apprentice K K Chiong stated that after having to be ridden along in the early stages to obtain the lead, RUGBY DIAMOND travelled well in the middle stages. She said RUGBY DIAMOND appeared to be travelling well rounding the Home Turn, however, shortly after entering the Straight came under pressure and then did not respond to her riding and was disappointing. A veterinary inspection of RUGBY DIAMOND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of OPTIMISM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ORIENTAL FANTASIA and GREAT SPEED were sent for sampling. <8/9/2016 Additional Veterinary Report>FOREVER FUN, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time it was lame in its right front leg. FOREVER FUN was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer K L Man this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be also lame in its right hind leg. As previously advised, FOREVER FUN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
