BABA MAMA was withdrawn on 30.9.16 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (substantial amount of mucopus in trachea on scoping after track work) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter PEOPLE'S KNIGHT (N Callan). Before being allowed to race again, BABA MAMA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. From a wide barrier, ROYAL ELITE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. Passing the 900 Metres, HO IN ONE commenced to over-race and shifted out off the heels of DR LISTENING. On the first turn near the 900 Metres, PEOPLE'S KNIGHT was checked away from the heels of METALLIC STAR (T H So) which shifted in. T H So was advised that whilst the Stewards acknowledged that the shift from METALLIC STAR was marginal, nonetheless he was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that runners to his inside are afforded comfortable racing room. METALLIC STAR lost its right front plate near the 550 Metres. After being held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight, POWER OF ONE was shifted to the inside of BOLD STITCH when that horse shifted out passing the 300 Metres. After being tested for a short distance, POWER OF ONE was then steadied when held up behind DR LISTENING and BOLD STITCH which were commencing to give ground. POWER OF ONE remained held up and was unable to be fully tested in the run to the finishing line. After being shifted out to find clear running near the 300 Metres, ROYAL ELITE was then directed back to the inside of the heels of HO IN ONE which shifted out passing the 250 Metres. ROYAL ELITE was then unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages and as a consequence was not able to be fully tested. Passing the 300 Metres, MODERN TSAR was shifted to the outside of WUSHU CHAMPION to obtain clear running. METALLIC STAR and VICTORY DAY were obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the race. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HO IN ONE had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of DR LISTENING immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, DR LISTENING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of BOLD STITCH immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, BOLD STITCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DR LISTENING, SENSATION and VICTORY DAY were sent for sampling.
