As the start was effected, HO HO FEEL lifted its front feet off the ground and was slow to begin. EASY HEDGE began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, UNIQUE JOYOUS was crowded for room between RAZOR QUEST and ASHKIYR, both of which shifted ground. Approaching and passing the 1300 Metres, GREEN DISPATCH raced tight inside SKY KING which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of HOLMES LEGEND. CLOUD NINE lost its right hind plate near the 1100 Metres. For some distance in the early part of the Straight, AMAZING AGILITY and UNIQUE JOYOUS raced tight and bumped as AMAZING AGILITY shifted out into clear running. GREEN DISPATCH, HO HO FEEL and LOTUS STRIKES BACK were all held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight. For some distance approaching and passing the 300 Metres, REDWOOD BABY was held up for clear running and near the 200 Metres was steadied away from the heels of CLOUD NINE after being unable to improve between that horse which was taken out by GREEN DISPATCH and ALLCASH. Approaching the 250 Metres, AMAZING AGILITY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of GENERAL SHERMAN which shifted out under pressure. Passing the 200 Metres, ALLCASH was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SKY KING. Passing the 100 Metres, EASY HEDGE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of LOTUS STRIKES BACK (S Clipperton) which shifted in. S Clipperton was advised to exercise more care. Passing the 50 Metres, ALLCASH and SKY KING raced tight between CLOUD NINE and HO HO FEEL. The Stewards will interview J Moreira, the rider of EASY HEDGE, regarding the disappointing performance of the horse prior to Race 1 at the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 19 October 2016. A veterinary inspection of SKY KING and EASY HEDGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. EASY HEDGE, GREEN DISPATCH and LOTUS STRIKES BACK were sent for sampling.
