SHARP SAILOR began awkwardly. From wide barriers, VANILLA and ROYAL PARTNER were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, BEAUTY FLARE failed to muster speed and for the majority of the race travelled wide and without cover. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, INVENTOR was crowded for room inside SILVERFIELD (K Teetan) which got its head on the side and shifted in away from CLOUD NINE. K Teetan was advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. Passing the 1300 Metres, CLOUD NINE shifted in and bumped SILVERFIELD which became unbalanced. Passing the 400 Metres, LOTUS STRIKES BACK was awkwardly placed close to the heels of INVENTOR. Also passing the 400 Metres, SHARP SAILOR raced in restricted room between POSITIVE FORCE and INVENTOR. Then rounding the Home Turn, SHARP SAILOR and INVENTOR raced very tight as SHARP SAILOR continued to improve into tight running between that horse and POSITIVE FORCE which commenced to give ground. A veterinary inspection of INVENTOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was not able to be scoped due to being fractious. DINOZZO and VICTORY BOYS were sent for sampling.
