POWERMAX began awkwardly. CATCHMEIFYOUCAN and PREMIERE were crowded for room on jumping between GLORY HORSIE and FANTASTIC FABIO which shifted in. Shortly after the start, ST YAZIN was crowded for room between SECRET AGENT and FANTASTIC FABIO which was taken out by PREMIERE which got its head on the side and shifted out away from CATCHMEIFYOUCAN despite the efforts of its rider. From a wide barrier, RAY OF GOLD was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the 900 Metres, POWERMAX momentarily raced in restricted room inside YOUNG EMPIRE which, when racing tight inside TOP BONUS, shifted in away from that horse. Near the 750 Metres, FANTASTIC FABIO momentarily raced in restricted room between CATCHMEIFYOUCAN and ST YAZIN. Making the turn near the 600 Metres, CATCHMEIFYOUCAN was crowded for room between SECRET AGENT and POWERMAX which shifted out. ST YAZIN, which was following CATCHMEIFYOUCAN, was checked away from the heels of that horse in consequence. Passing the 300 Metres, PREMIERE lay in and was awkwardly placed behind TOP BONUS. Approaching the 200 Metres, HORSE SUPREMO, which was commencing to give ground, was steadied away from the heels of PREMIERE which shifted out. Near the 50 Metres, FANTASTIC FABIO was crowded for room between GLORY HORSIE and TOP BONUS (M Demuro) which shifted out. HORSE SUPREMO, which was following FANTASTIC FABIO and continuing to give ground, was inconvenienced. M Demuro was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. Throughout the race, GLORY HORSIE travelled wide and without cover. After the race, it was reported that POWERMAX had sustained a small wound to the inside of the right hind fetlock. POWERMAX, PREMIERE and SECRET AGENT were sent for sampling.
