On arrival at the Start, it was noted that PEACE N PROSPERITY had lost its right front plate. Following this plate being refitted, the horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. As the start was effected, FISH N’ CHIPS lifted its front feet off the ground, resulting in its rider, N Juglall, becoming unbalanced and FISH N’ CHIPS being slow to begin. HARRIER JET shifted out at the start and bumped TRAVEL DATUK which in turn shifted out and bumped DILLY. FISH N’ CHIPS lost its left front plate shortly after the start. BRILLIANT DREAM was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. Despite being vigorously ridden in the early stages, EASY TOUCH and LUCKY DAY failed to muster speed. For some distance after the 1000 Metres, STARTLING POWER commenced to travel keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DIEGO KOSTA. Near the 750 Metres, BRILLIANT DREAM was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FISH N’ CHIPS. BUDDY BUNDY travelled wide and without cover until after the 600 Metres. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, FISH N’ CHIPS lay in, bumped the running rail and became unbalanced. Passing the 400 Metres, BRILLIANT DREAM was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY DAY when held up for clear running. Approaching the 200 Metres, BRILLIANT DREAM was shifted to the inside of BUDDY BUNDY to continue improving. Over the concluding stages, LUCKY DAY raced tight outside BRILLIANT DREAM. The performance of STARTLING POWER, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, STARTLING POWER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of O Murphy (BRILLIANT DREAM), 4th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race where circumstances permit. After the race, it was reported that SEA JADE had sustained a small cut to the right hind pastern. A veterinary inspection of PEACE N PROSPERITY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SEA JADE and HARRIER JET were sent for sampling.
