SPICY SURE began awkwardly. HIGH AND MIGHTY and PIKACHU were slow to begin. From wide barriers, MR GENUINE and RAGHU were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1000 Metres, MIGHTY MAVERICK commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of BEAUTY GENERATION. PIKACHU, which was following, was hampered in consequence. WHO DAT SINGA had some difficulty securing clear running in the early part of the Straight. Near the 300 Metres, MR GENUINE was shifted to the inside of WHO DAT SINGA after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse which was shifting out to obtain clear running. Passing the 200 Metres, TOP ACT was shifted out away from the heels of SPICY SURE which was giving ground. Approaching the 100 Metres, WHO DAT SINGER got its head on the side and shifted in under pressure. WHO DAT SINGER was then awkwardly placed close to the heels of MY DARLING over the concluding stages and consequently was not able to be fully tested. Passing the 100 Metres, HEALTHY JOYFUL shifted in and bumped BEAUTY GENERATION. BEAUTY GENERATION and HEALTHY JOYFUL continued to race tight over the concluding stages. CALIFORNIA WHIP lay in under pressure in the Straight. Throughout the race, CALIFORNIA WHIP travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of MIGHTY MAVERICK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MY DARLING and BEAUTY GENERATION were sent for sampling.
