CROWN AVENUE was slow to begin. CITY WINNER began only fairly and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY AGILITY which shifted out. After this, CITY WINNER and ROYAL PERFORMER, from wide barriers, were shifted across behind runners. RUN FORREST began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of LUCKY WAN FENG which then became unbalanced and shifted out. After the 900 Metres, SUPER SIXTEEN got its head up when reluctant to maintain its position inside LUCKY WAN FENG. FUN MACHINE was held up for clear running approaching and passing the 300 Metres. Approaching the 100 Metres, SMART BOY was steadied away from the heels of BURST AWAY (G Mosse) which shifted out under pressure. G Mosse was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. Throughout the race, IRON BOY travelled wide and without cover. MOMENTUM LUCKY, LUCKY WAN FENG and SUPER SIXTEEN were sent for sampling.
