On arrival at the Start, K Teetan asked for the tongue tie which was fitted to WISKY to be examined to ensure that it was not fitted too tight. As the start was effected, KING OF MONGOLIA turned its head to the right and then began awkwardly and lost ground. KING OF MONGOLIA was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. CHEVALIER STAR began only fairly. CITRON SPIRIT and COURAGEOUS BROTHER were crowded for room at the start between WISKY which shifted in marginally and LITTLE DEVIL which shifted out. After this, CITRON SPIRIT and COURAGEOUS BROTHER were shifted across behind runners. Near the 1050 Metres, LAND GRANT was steadied away from the heels of CHEVALIER STAR which was racing tight inside SHAMAL. Then passing the 1000 Metres, CHEVALIER STAR was eased away from the heels of SHAMAL (Apprentice K K Chiong) which shifted in when not quite clear. Apprentice Chiong was advised to ensure that she is properly clear when shifting ground in future. After the 900 Metres, THE SUPREME was left racing wide and without cover. KING OF MONGOLIA lost its left front plate near the 800 Metres. LITTLE DEVIL lay out rounding the Home Turn. Passing the 400 Metres, ROMAN IMPERO was shifted in away from the heels of CHEVALIER STAR. Near the 350 Metres, ROYAL ELITE was checked and LAND GRANT badly hampered when crowded for room between LITTLE DEVIL and CHEVALIER STAR which, after racing tight outside MIGHTY MAVERICK, got its head on the side and shifted out away from that horse despite the efforts of its rider. After this, CHEVALIER STAR gave ground abruptly and was eased down over the final 250 Metres and finished tailed out. A veterinary inspection of CHEVALIER STAR immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. The performance of CHEVALIER STAR was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CHEVALIER STAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. For a short distance after this, ROYAL ELITE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of THE SUPREME. A veterinary inspection of WISKY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CITRON SPIRIT, MIGHTY MAVERICK and DARING FIT were sent for sampling.
