On arrival at the Start, it was noted that GENTRY had blood at the mouth due to a cut tongue. GENTRY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. SUPER CLAN began only fairly and shortly after the start was crowded for room between HAPPY JOURNEY which shifted out after being bumped by CURLING LUXURY and WINASWEWISH which shifted in. GENTRY, PEARL FURU and DIAMOND FRIENDS were all steadied from outside barriers and shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1500 Metres, SPINNING DANCER and GLORY STAR raced tight. GLORY STAR raced in restricted room passing the winning post on the first occasion due to CURLING LUXURY shifting in away from ROCKET LET WIN. After being crossed by GO GO WIN near the 1400 Metres, CURLING LUXURY commenced to prove difficult to settle and shifted out away from the heels of that horse passing the 1300 Metres. SPINNING DANCER then improved its position to be racing inside CURLING LUXURY, resulting in that horse being left racing wide and without cover. CURLING LUXURY was then allowed to stride forward into the lead near the 1000 Metres. Approaching the 1200 Metres, HAPPY JOURNEY got its head up when being checked away from the heels of GLORY STAR. Passing the 900 Metres, SUPER CLAN got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of HAPPY JOURNEY which was also awkwardly placed close to the heels of GLORY STAR which raced close behind ROCKET LET WIN which was steadied after being crossed by CURLING LUXURY. In this incident, SUPER CLAN shifted out away from the heels of HAPPY JOURNEY and bumped ROCK THE TREE on two occasions, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. Passing the 700 Metres, ROCK THE TREE was taken wider by WINASWEWISH which shifted out to improve. GLORY STAR lost its right front plate near the 400 Metres. Passing the 300 Metres, SUPER CLAN was awkwardly placed outside the heels of ROCK THE TREE which shifted out. Near the 150 Metres, SPINNING DANCER raced tight inside the heels of GO GO WIN. Close to the finishing line, SUPER CLAN and HAPPY JOURNEY raced tight due to SUPER CLAN shifting out. GENTRY lost its right front plate after the race. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY JOURNEY and SUPER CLAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of GLORY STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. WINASWEWISH and GO GO WIN were sent for sampling.
