SPRING WIN began awkwardly, made contact with MORDICUS and then shifted out and bumped with BRIGHT STAR which also began awkwardly. HAPPY OUT THERE got its head up when steadied at the start. GRACIOUS RYDER shifted out at the start and made contact with the hindquarters of RICHCITY FORTUNE which then shifted in, resulting in GRACIOUS RYDER being taken in onto LE PANACHE which was inconvenienced. GRACIOUS RYDER proved difficult to settle approaching the first turn and after passing the 900 Metres had to be steadied away from the heels of ACCESSION YEARS which was steadied behind the leader RICHCITY FORTUNE. After leaving the 900 Metres, RED ELYSEES and HARBOUR NOVA bumped, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. HARBOUR NOVA lost its left front plate and HAPPY OUT THERE lost its right front plate after the 900 Metres. Soon after straightening, ENDEARING and GRACIOUS RYDER made contact as GRACIOUS RYDER attempted to shift out from behind MORDICUS. GRACIOUS RYDER was then held up before gaining clear running between MORDICUS and ENDEARING approaching the 200 Metres. Throughout the race, BRIGHT STAR travelled wide and without cover. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on HARBOUR NOVA at the request of Trainer P O’Sullivan. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, HARBOUR NOVA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ENDEARING, RICHCITY FORTUNE and MORDICUS were sent for sampling. <22/5/2017 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Officer reported that HAPPY OUT THERE was lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY OUT THERE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
