Steward Report Predict Pace Map
NOBLE DE BOY, which was fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly and lost ground. SO GENEROUS began only fairly. LONDON MASTER shifted out at the start and bumped CAREFREE LET GO. From a wide barrier, OHANA was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Passing the 600 Metres, CAREFREE LET GO became unbalanced when bumped on a number of occasions by NOBLE DE BOY (Apprentice M F Poon) which improved into tight running between CAREFREE LET GO and SO GENEROUS. Apprentice Poon was advised that whilst the Stewards encourage riders to improve their position where possible, they must do so whilst exercising due care. About the 400 Metres, LONDON MASTER (C Schofield) was shifted out to improve into tight running between EVER STRONG and ZERO HEDGE which shifted in marginally. In this incident, LONDON MASTER and ZERO HEDGE bumped, resulting in ZERO HEDGE, in particular, becoming unbalanced. C Schofield was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. Near the 350 Metres, STARSHIP, when endeavouring to improve into tight running inside OUR FOLKS, was steadied when OUR FOLKS lay in marginally. STARSHIP was then shifted out across the heels of OUR FOLKS to obtain clear running. After the race, J Moreira stated that whilst ZERO HEDGE was somewhat disappointing in its failure to finish off the race, he believed that the horse having to race wide and without cover for the majority of the race on a rain affected track and at only its second race start were the factors which impacted upon its finishing effort. A veterinary inspection of ZERO HEDGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ZERO HEDGE, STARSHIP and OUR FOLKS were sent for sampling.
