GOLDEN KID was slow to begin. CHARITY WINGS began only fairly. Shortly after the start, ROCHFORD shifted out and bumped JUNGLE KING which was then awkwardly placed inside DEJA VU. In this incident, both JUNGLE KING and ROCHFORD became unbalanced. After this, ROCHFORD was ridden along, however, failed to muster speed. After travelling about 50 Metres, JUNGLE KING was steadied away from the heels of DEJA VU (K C Leung) which, after being bumped by STARTLING POWER, shifted in further when being ridden along. K C Leung was advised to exercise more care in future. From the outside barriers, FANTASTIC FABIO and AMAZING RACE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 250 Metres, JUNGLE KING went amiss in its right hind leg and was eased down. Throughout the race, STARTLING POWER travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of STARTLING POWER immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, STARTLING POWER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of ROCHFORD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. STARTLING POWER, GIDDY GIDDY and DEJA VU were sent for sampling. Samples were also taken from JUNGLE KING.
