CALIFORNIA ARCHER began only fairly. RED ROSE WARRIOR was slow to begin. HARD PROMISE began awkwardly and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of ACE KING which shifted out. In the early stages, DIAMOND DRAGON was shifted across behind runners. Passing the 400 Metres, C Y Ho (RED ROSE WARRIOR) momentarily dropped his left rein. Passing the 300 Metres DRAGON PIONEER momentarily raced tight between CALIFORNIA ARCHER which was commencing to give ground and SUN TOUCH which got its head on the side and lay in. SUN TOUCH was immediately corrected by its rider and shifted back out to relieve the tightening to DRAGON PIONEER. Approaching the 200 Metres, RED ROSE WARRIOR was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of CALIFORNIA ARCHER which was continuing to give ground. After the race, O Doleuze reported that SAUL’S SPECIAL appeared reluctant to stretch out on today’s surface. A veterinary inspection of SAUL’S SPECIAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA ARCHER immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, CALIFORNIA ARCHER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HOT KING PRAWN and ROYAL MOJITO were sent for sampling.
