WESTERN EXPRESS and SIMPLY INVINCIBLE began only fairly. After this, SIMPLY INVINCIBLE was shifted across behind runners. RACING SUPERNOVA was awkwardly placed inside the heels of NEW ASIA SUNRISE shortly after the start. LIMITLESS got its head up and proved difficult to settle when being steadied to obtain cover approaching and passing the 1100 Metres. Making the turn after the 900 Metres, EXULTANT improved to be racing between SIMPLY INVINCIBLE and RACING SUPERNOVA where there was insufficient room which resulted in EXULTANT having to be checked and losing ground. WESTERN EXPRESS had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. After the race, K C Leung (SIMPLY INVINCIBLE) reported that his mount appeared reluctant to stretch out in the Straight. When questioned, S Clipperton stated that it had been hoped that BOOMING DELIGHT would be able to obtain a position in about midfield if possible. He said in the early stages he rode his mount positively in an endeavour to cross RACING SUPERNOVA and obtain a position one horse off the rail. He said however that he was unable to do so due to RACING SUPERNOVA maintaining its position to his inside one horse off the rail. He said he therefore steadied BOOMING DELIGHT in an endeavour to obtain cover behind RACING SUPERNOVA, however, EXULTANT was able to obtain that position and for this reason he was left racing in a three wide position and without cover after the 900 Metres. A veterinary inspection of BOOMING DELIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of MAGIC LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. WESTERN EXPRESS and WAH MAY FRIEND were sent for sampling.
