After beginning awkwardly, GENERAL O’REILLY was shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier soon after the start to obtain cover. Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, DOUBLE POINT failed to muster speed. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, DYNAMIC LIONS commenced to prove difficult to settle, shifted in and brushed the hindquarters of FIVE STARS AGENT, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. A short distance later, DYNAMIC LIONS and WINNINGLI, which was shifting in, bumped, resulting in DYNAMIC LIONS being hampered and WINNINGLI becoming unbalanced. DYNAMIC LIONS then refused to settle for some distance and got its head up when continuing to race keenly. Approaching the 1200 Metres, RHODE ASSASSIN (N Callan) was hampered when racing tight inside GENTLEMEN (Apprentice M F Poon) which shifted in. Apprentice Poon was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in at this stage, resulting in unnecessary contact between both horses. N Callan was also spoken to regarding his left elbow being extended away from his body during this incident. On the turn near the 700 Metres, GOLDEN KID was steadied when racing tight inside DIAMOND FRIENDS which, after initially laying in and away from SOUL ACHIEVER, was then taken in slightly by that horse which at this stage improved inside the heels of GENTLEMEN which had commenced to give ground. At the 150 Metres, RAINBOW GOLD shifted out under pressure and made contact with the hindquarters of JIMSON THE FAMOUS. Throughout the race, WINNINGLI travelled wide and without cover. DYNAMIC LIONS also raced wide and without cover throughout the race and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of DYNAMIC LIONS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. The performance of DYNAMIC LIONS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DYNAMIC LIONS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DIAMOND FRIENDS and VICTORY FOLLOW ME were sent for sampling.
