FIRE AND GOLD was withdrawn on 31.12.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore right fore tendon) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GLENEALY PRIZE (U Rispoli). Before being allowed to race again, FIRE AND GOLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ROYAL PREROGATIVE was crowded for room on jumping between TRIUMPHAL TRUMPET and GOLDEN GLORY which got its head on the side and shifted in. TRIUMPH was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. From a wide barrier, LONDON MASTER was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, GLENEALY PRIZE failed to muster speed. RADIANT TREASURE made the turn after the 900 Metres awkwardly and got its head up on a number of occasions. Passing the 650 Metres, AVELLINO got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of RADIANT TREASURE which continued to race keenly and was awkwardly placed behind TRIUMPHAL TRUMPET. For some distance in the middle stages and rounding the Home Turn, GOLDEN GLORY got its head on the side and lay out. Approaching the 500 Metres, GLENEALY PRIZE shifted out abruptly away from the heels of MAGIC SUCCESS which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of NICE KICK which shifted out to obtain clear running. AVELLINO was unable to obtain clear running in the Straight and near the 100 Metres was shifted out abruptly away from the heels of LONDON MASTER to improve to the outside of that horse. Because of this, AVELLINO was not able to be properly tested. For the majority of the race, HAPPY FIERY DRAGON travelled wide and without cover. P-C Boudot, the rider of the 3rd placed, MAGIC SUCCESS, was reminded of his obligation to continue to ride his mounts out to the end of the race where circumstances permit. NICE KICK and HAVE FUN TOGETHER were sent for sampling.
