Whilst in the saddling stalls, MICKEY RICH had its left front plate refitted. MICKEY RICH was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. RADIANT STEED began only fairly. STARSHIP shifted out at the start and bumped VICTORY MACHINE. From the outside barriers, SLEEP EDUCATION and BIZ POWER were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. After the 1000 Metres, EVERBRAVE commenced to prove very difficult to settle and shifted out when being checked away from the heels of AMAZING STAR which resulted in VICTORY MACHINE being awkwardly placed outside the heels of EVERBRAVE when racing tight inside SHANGHAI MASTER. SIR REDALOT, which was following EVERBRAVE, was inconvenienced. After this, EVERBRAVE continued to travel keenly. Passing the 400 Metres, MICKEY RICH was bumped by GOLDEN HARVEST (K C Leung) which shifted out to obtain clear running. K C Leung was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. N Rawiller (EVERBRAVE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent EVERBRAVE from shifting out which resulted in that horse shifting out across the rightful running of DOUBLE VALENTINE which was checked. In this incident, SIR REDALOT was bumped on the hindquarters by DOUBLE VALENTINE, became unbalanced and shifted out, causing SHANGHAI MASTER to be crowded onto the hindquarters of VICTORY MACHINE which also became unbalanced. N Rawiller was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Saturday, 13 January 2018 and to expire on Thursday, 18 January 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey Rawiller was fined $25,000. STARSHIP was unable to obtain clear running from approaching the 200 Metres until near the 100 Metres at which stage it shifted out and inconvenienced MICKEY RICH. A veterinary inspection of VICTORY MACHINE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. RADIANT STEED and AMAZING STAR were sent for sampling.
