Shortly after the start, GRAN MASTER raced tight between KING OF MONGOLIA and LITTLE DRAGON which shifted out. From wide barriers, KING OF MONGOLIA and CIRCUIT HASSLER were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, GRAN MASTER shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of LITTLE DRAGON which became unbalanced. After the 1300 Metres, WILLIE WAY commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of LET US WIN. Passing the 700 Metres, SHARP SAILOR was steadied away from the heels of LET US WIN (J Moreira) which shifted out. J Moreira was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Approaching the 600 Metres, CIRCUIT HASSLER was hampered after attempting to improve between THUNDER STOMP and SHARP SAILOR where there was insufficient room. At the entrance to the Straight, N Rawiller (THUNDER STOMP) dropped his whip. As this was the third occasion this season that N Rawiller had dropped his whip in races, he was placed on notice of the requirement to ensure that he retains the use of his whip throughout a race. For the major part of the race, GREEN DISPATCH travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. After the race, P-C Boudot expressed concern regarding the action of GREEN DISPATCH. The Veterinary Officer reported that GREEN DISPATCH was lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, GREEN DISPATCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of THUNDER STOMP immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. PRAWN BABA and GRAN MASTER were sent for sampling.
