YOURTHEWONFORME was slow to begin. VIVA COUNCIL shifted in at the start and bumped EVER LAUGH. From the outside barriers, DASHING DART and REMARKABLE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1500 Metres, JOYFUL PARK was bumped by DASHING DART which shifted in after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of ELECTRIC LIGHTNING. HORSE PROSPEROUS lost its left hind plate in the early stages. After the 900 Metres, ELECTRIC LIGHTNING was left racing wide and without cover. Approaching and passing the 300 Metres, YOURTHEWONFORME was held up for clear running and after being shifted to the inside of VIVA COUNCIL after the 300 Metres was then unable to obtain clear running until passing the 200 Metres. Passing the 300 Metres, VIVA COUNCIL, which was commencing to give ground, was momentarily crowded for room between MARQULA which shifted out marginally and EVEREST which lay in under pressure. After this, EVEREST continued to lay in. When questioned regarding the performance of RED HORSE, N Rawiller stated that the horse was disappointing given that it had enjoyed a good run throughout the race behind the eventual winner EVEREST. He said at the entrance to the Straight RED HORSE was not able to quicken when shifted to the outside of EVEREST and then was disappointing in the manner in which it gave ground over the final 200 Metres. He added judging by the manner in which RED HORSE failed to finish off the race, he believes that the horse may be better suited over 1400 Metres. A veterinary inspection of RED HORSE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, K Teetan explained that although VIVA COUNCIL travelled keenly throughout the middle stages, the horse was disappointing in that it did not respond to his riding in the early part of the Straight and then weakened out of the race when up in grade today.
