JING JING KING and GRADE ONE were badly crowded for room on jumping between AMBITIOUS PINS and PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT which shifted out abruptly. In this incident, AMBITIOUS PINS became badly unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by GRADE ONE. FLYING NOBLE began awkwardly and then was crowded for room between TOP SCORE and SUPER MISSILE which, after initially being bumped by TRIUMPHANT LIGHT, then shifted in further. This resulted In FLYING NOBLE racing back in the field. From wide barriers, SPEEDY WALLY and CITY LEGEND were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1100 Metres, PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up repeatedly when being steadied away from the heels of TRAVEL EMPEROR. PRESIDENTPARAMOUNT continued to travel keenly for some distance after this and then made the first turn near the 900 Metres awkwardly, again getting its head up on a number of occasions. Approaching the 1000 Metres, TOP SCORE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JING JING KING. As a consequence, TOP SCORE shifted out and then was unable to resume its position due to SPEEDY WALLY improving inside TOP SCORE. This resulted in TOP SCORE racing wide and without cover. AMBITIOUS PINS was held up for clear running from approaching the 300 Metres until near the 150 Metres at which stage the horse got its head up when being checked away from the heels of CARE FREE PRINCE. Near the 300 Metres, DEJA VU was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUPER MISSILE. Then passing the 300 Metres, DEJA VU and TRAVEL EMPEROR brushed. Near the 250 Metres, TOP SCORE shifted out abruptly under pressure, resulting in JING JING KING becoming unbalanced when crowded for room inside CITY LEGEND. TOP SCORE also became unbalanced after making contact with JING JING KING. Near the 150 Metres, TOP SCORE and JING JING KING bumped. SPEEDY WALLY lay in under pressure in the Straight. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of Z Purton (SUPER MISSILE), 3rd placegetter, over the final stages of the race did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out all the way to the end of the race. SUPER MISSILE, GRADE ONE and CITY LEGEND were sent for sampling.
