M L Yeung weighed out 1 lb overweight on HOLY UNICORN without declaring a probable overweight. On return to scale, M L Yeung was found to have weighed in at 113 lbs which was 2 lbs above his declared weight. Jockey Yeung was fined the sum of $7,000. Just prior to the start being effected, LOADED turned its head to the right and as a consequence was a little slow to begin. SWEET BEAN lost ground soon after the start when crowded for room between THE JOY OF GIVING and HOLY UNICORN which shifted out. HOLY UNICORN continued to shift out despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in THE JOY OF GIVING also being hampered. AMAZING GOLD raced wide and without cover from the 800 Metres. Passing the 200 Metres, THE JOY OF GIVING was steadied when reluctant to improve its position between SWEET BEAN and SUPERNATURAL which shifted out. Approaching the 150 Metres, GLENEALY PRIZE was shifted out around the heels of HAPPY FRIENDSHIP to continue improving. When questioned, B Prebble stated that FRUITFUL LIFE did not feel comfortable in its action throughout the early and middle stages and came under heavy pressure prior to the 500 Metres to maintain its position. He said the horse’s action deteriorated quite noticeably in the Straight which obliged him to ease it down over the final 100 Metres. A veterinary inspection of FRUITFUL LIFE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, FRUITFUL LIFE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SWEET BEAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MEGATRON and CELEBRATION were sent for sampling.
