At declaration time, Apprentice H T Mo was declared as the rider of both GOLDEN SLEEP and DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS. It was established that Apprentice Mo had a firm commitment to ride DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS. As such, the Stewards permitted Apprentice H N Wong to be substituted as the rider of GOLDEN SLEEP. For this declaration error, Trainer C H Yip was fined $2,000. DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of CHATER THUNDER which became unbalanced. From wide barriers, LUCKY WIN WIN and DUTCH WINDMILL were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, GOLDEN SLEEP failed to muster speed and after the 1300 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. GOLDEN SLEEP was subsequently allowed to improve its position after the 1200 Metres into the lead near the 1000 Metres. Approaching the 1400 Metres, ELUSIVE STATE got its head up when being checked away from the heels of CHATER THUNDER. Approaching and passing the 1300 Metres, HAY RUN got its head up on a number of occasions when over-racing and awkwardly placed close to the heels of TOP ACE. DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS, which was following, was hampered in consequence. After the 1200 Metres, CHATER THUNDER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of EXPERTO CREDE. Near the 900 Metres, ENREACHING was left racing wide and without cover and was consequently ridden along to obtain a position outside the lead and closer to the rail. After the 700 Metres, ELUSIVE STATE was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 200 Metres, HAY RUN (N Rawiller) was directed out away from the heels of ENREACHING to obtain clear running. When HAY RUN was being shifted out, EXPERTO CREDE, which was giving ground, was momentarily eased away from the heels of that horse. N Rawiller was reprimanded. Close to the finishing line, ENREACHING (D Whyte) raced tight inside ELUSIVE STATE (O Doleuze). This resulted in D Whyte not being able to fully test ENREACHING over the concluding stages and O Doleuze having to straighten his mount to prevent causing interference to ENREACHING. The performance of SUPREME STORM, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME STORM will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of DIAMOND MYSTERIOUS immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of EXPERTO CREDE and CHATER THUNDER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. REMARKABLE and QUICK RETURN were sent for sampling. <12/3/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>EXPERTO CREDE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. EXPERTO CREDE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Moore this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, EXPERTO CREDE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CHATER THUNDER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. CHATER THUNDER was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D E Ferraris this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CHATER THUNDER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
