KING’S STEED began only fairly. YOUNG DREAMER (A Sanna) began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped RAICHU, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. RAICHU then shifted out, resulting in YOUNG DREAMER being hampered. A Sanna reported that as a result of these incidents YOUNG DREAMER, which had been intended to race in the lead if possible, was required to race further back in the field. CATCHMEIFYOUCAN began only fairly and then shortly after the start was momentarily crowded for room between YOUNG DREAMER and SPARKLING TALENT, both of which shifted ground. From the outside barriers, ROCKET LET WIN and TREASURE AND GOLD was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Making the turn near the 950 Metres, ROCKET LET WIN got its head on the side, shifted out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SCARBOROUGH FAIR. Passing the 900 Metres, when being steadied in an attempt to obtain cover behind IDYLLIC WIND, RAICHU travelled keenly and got its head up on a number of occasions. Near the 750 Metres, ROCKET LET WIN, which was inclined to lay out, was steadied when racing tight inside SCARBOROUGH FAIR which shifted in away from YOUNG DREAMER. Approaching the 600 Metres, TREASURE AND GOLD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of YOUNG DREAMER. Approaching the 600 Metres, RAICHU was left racing wide and without cover. Also approaching the 600 Metres, SPARKLING TALENT got its head up when awkwardly placed outside the heels of RAICHU. Approaching the 200 Metres, KING’S STEED and CATCHMEIFYOUCAN raced tight. Passing the 200 Metres, IDYLLIC WIND, which was giving ground, was momentarily crowded for room between EXPONENTS which shifted in marginally when racing tight inside SPARKLING TALENT and TREASURE AND GOLD which shifted out. Passing the 100 Metres, ROCKET LET WIN was shifted in away from the heels of CATCHMEIFYOUCAN. Approaching the 50 Metres, the whip of N Rawiller (SPARKLING TALENT) became caught in the left rein of EXPONENTS, placing him at a disadvantage over the concluding stages. Over the final 50 Metres, YOUNG DREAMER was unable to obtain clear running inside GOBI STORM and consequently was not able to be fully tested. K Teetan (RAICHU) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 50 Metres he failed to make sufficient endeavour to prevent his mount from shifting out when not clear of EXPONENTS, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 28 March 2018 and to expire on Tuesday, 3 April 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, K Teetan was fined $90,000. After the race, B Prebble stated that after having to make considerable use of IDYLLIC WIND to take up a forward positon, his mount travelled only fairly during the race and then gave ground in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of IDYLLIC WIND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SCARBOROUGH FAIR, TREASURE AND GOLD and RAICHU were sent for sampling. <15/3/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>YOUNG DREAMER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. YOUNG DREAMER was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A T Millard this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, YOUNG DREAMER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
