On arrival at the Start, it was noted that ROMAN IMPERO had twisted its right front plate which resulted in the horse having to be replated. The start of the race was delayed as this process took some time to complete. ROMAN IMPERO was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. SUPER SPRINTER began awkwardly. From wide barriers, ISHVARA, FRIENDS OF KA YING and NUCLEAR POWER were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages. KING OF MONGOLIA was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. For some distance after the 850 Metres, NUCLEAR POWER travelled keenly and was awkwardly placed behind JADE FORTUNE. K C Leung (SILVERFIELD) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 600 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of BIG BANG BONG, resulting in that horse being checked when losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled outside OUTLAWED. K C Leung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 11 April 2018 and to expire on Monday, 16 April 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, K C Leung was fined $22,500. At the entrance to the Straight, OUTLAWED raced tight between SILVERFIELD and DON’T MISS which made the Home Turn awkwardly. In this incident, OUTLAWED made contact with the hindquarters of SILVERFIELD. A veterinary inspection of NUCLEAR POWER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. A veterinary inspection of OUTLAWED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. DON’T MISS, ROMAN IMPERO and SILVERFIELD were sent for sampling.
