T Berry (ALCARI) was fined $7,000 for weighing in 2 lbs overweight after the race. VICTORY MACHINE stood flat-footed as the start was effected and consequently lost a significant amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, VICTORY MACHINE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial. COOL TEAM was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was checked when crowded for room between SUPERICH (J Moreira) and PATRIOTISM which was taken out by ALCARI. In this incident, SUPERICH became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by COOL TEAM. After the race, J Moreira stated that after being bumped in this incident, SUPERICH, despite being ridden along, did not show any early speed and raced further back in the field than had been anticipated. Passing the 500 Metres, SUPERICH was awkwardly placed outside DIAMOND RHYME when attempting to improve into tight running outside that horse. SUPERICH was then shifted to the inside of DIAMOND RHYME approaching the 400 Metres to obtain clear running. Over the concluding stages, SUPERICH was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SAUL’S SPECIAL. ALCARI, which was following SUPERICH, was steadied away from the heels of that horse and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SWOT WINDICATOR was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and had bled from both nostrils. Before being allowed to race again, SWOT WINDICATOR will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of ALCARI and AMAZING STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SUPERICH, REFINED TREASURE and SAUL’S SPECIAL were sent for sampling. <7/5/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>AMAZING STAR, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. AMAZING STAR was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer W Y So this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, AMAZING STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
