FAMOUS WARRIOR shifted out at the start and bumped MARZOUQ. From the outside barriers, DARK KNIGHT and MAGIC POWER were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1200 Metres, MAGIC POWER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DARK KNIGHT. After the 1000 Metres, NEW ELEGANCE commenced to prove difficult to settle and shifted out away from the heels of NAMJONG PLUS when awkwardly placed behind that horse. NEW ELEGANCE was then able to shift in to resume its position behind NAMJONG PLUS after the 900 Metres. HO HO FEEL lost both front plates near the 500 Metres. Close to the finishing line, GO BEAUTY GO shifted out under pressure. After the race, C Schofield stated that it was intended for NEW ELEGANCE to be ridden in a forward position. He said however that the horse began only fairly and then despite being ridden along he was not able to obtain as forward a position as it had been anticipated. He said the tempo of the race was not strong in the middle stages and NEW ELEGANCE travelled keenly. He said he considered that these factors were attributable to the horse not being able to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of NEW ELEGANCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FAMOUS WARRIOR, GO BEAUTY GO and NITRO EXPRESS were sent for sampling.
