GOLDEN GLORY was withdrawn on 3.7.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter THOU SHALL SING (C Y Ho). Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN GLORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PEACE N PROSPERITY shifted out at the start and bumped AMBITIOUS HEART. From wide barriers, AMBITIOUS HEART, SURE SUPREME and CAPTAIN BOSS were all steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, SPRING WIN failed to muster speed and consequently was shifted across behind runners passing the 1100 Metres to obtain cover. Passing the 700 Metres, AMBITIOUS HEART was awkwardly placed close to the heels of APPLAUSE. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, THOU SHALL SING shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of PEACE N PROSPERITY, causing both horses to become unbalanced. Passing the 450 Metres, SPRING WIN was checked when crowded for room between RUMBA DELAGO and AMBITIOUS HEART (A Sanna) which shifted out after improving quickly to be close to the heels of APPLAUSE and having to be shifted away from the heels of that horse accordingly. As the Stewards were satisfied that the shift out from AMBITIOUS HEART was as a result of the horse improving quickly behind APPLAUSE rather than the intention of A Sanna to direct his mount out at that time, they elected not to proceed to a charge of careless riding, however, Jockey Sanna was advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground and causing interference in similar circumstances. AMBITIOUS HEART lost its right front plate during this incident. Passing the 200 Metres, APPLAUSE was shifted to the inside of firstly TELECOM MAN and then AMAZING RACE to obtain clear running. Throughout the race, RUMBA DELAGO travelled wide and without cover. After the race, K Teetan was dislodged from NOBLE DELIGHT without incident. The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in to establish whether TELECOM MAN had carried the weight all the way to the end of the race. It was established that close to the finishing line TELECOM MAN went amiss, resulting in T H So becoming badly unbalanced. It was further established that passing the winning post T H So, whilst in the process of being dislodged, still had contact with TELECOM MAN and that no part of his person touched the ground. As the Stewards were satisfied that TELECOM MAN had carried the weight all the way to the end of the race, weighed-in was notified on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. When TELECOM MAN went amiss, AMBITIOUS HEART was hampered passing the finishing line. Whilst T H So was not able to weigh in due to being injured in this incident, the Stewards were satisfied that there were no circumstances which suggested that less than the proper weight had been carried by TELECOM MAN throughout the race. Therefore, acting under the powers of Rule 112(5), weighed-in was declared without T H So having weighed in. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on AMAZING RACE at the request of Trainer C Fownes. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, AMAZING RACE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of PEACE N PROSPERITY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. NOBLE DELIGHT and THOU SHALL SING were sent for sampling. Samples were also taken from TELECOM MAN.
