EXPRESS STAR was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right front tendon injury). Before being allowed to race again, EXPRESS STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TRENDIFUL began awkwardly. COUR VALANT began only fairly. SHOW MISSION also began only fairly and then despite being ridden along was slow to muster speed. Shortly after the start, KINGSTON ONE was crowded for room between CARRY TO WIN and MASSIVE POWER which shifted out. In this incident, CARRY TO WIN became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by KINGSTON ONE. Then from the outside barrier, CARRY TO WIN was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. MULTIMAX raced with its head on the side and lay out in the early and middle stages. SHOW MISSION brushed the rail passing the 600 Metres, shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of SHOWING CHARACTER. At the 450 Metres, MASSIVE POWER became badly unbalanced when racing tight inside WISH COME TRUE which shifted in marginally. When being shifted out to relieve the tightening to MASSIVE POWER, WISH COME TRUE raced tight inside CARRY TO WIN. When obtaining a tight run inside TRENDIFUL (K C Leung) approaching the 200 Metres, COUR VALANT was momentarily crowded for room inside that horse. Passing the 200 Metres, TRENDIFUL was then directed out to relieve the tightening to COUR VALANT. After this, COUR VALANT got its head on the side and hung out towards the heels of TRENDIFUL, resulting in COUR VALANT being very awkwardly placed behind TRENDIFUL until passing the 150 Metres. K C Leung was advised that whilst the racing manners of COUR VALANT had played a large part in this incident, nonetheless he must ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. Approaching the 50 Metres, FIRST BEAUT was awkwardly placed inside the heels of PERFECT CHOICE. Throughout the race, PERFECT CHOICE travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of CARRY TO WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. TRENDIFUL, MULTIMAX and SHOW MISSION were sent for sampling. <27/9/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>CARRY TO WIN, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. CARRY TO WIN was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer R Gibson this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CARRY TO WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
