As the start was effected, TOM’S DRAGON lunged at the front gates which caused the gates to open marginally prior to the remaining gates. LONDON MASTER began awkwardly. TOM’S DRAGON shifted in at the start, resulting in FOX CHEUNGER and FLYING FORCE being hampered. Passing the 1000 Metres, MICKEY RICH was steadied away from the heels of POWERMAX which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of TOM’S DRAGON. N Callan (MICKEY RICH) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that over the concluding stages he permitted his mount to shift in under pressure when not sufficiently clear of LONDON MASTER, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. N Callan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday 24 October 2018 and to expire on Monday, 29 October 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Callan’s good race riding record. In the Straight, COURT RULER lay in and proved difficult to ride. Throughout the race, STAR SUPERIOR travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on FLYING FORCE at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FLYING FORCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FLYING FORCE and POWERMAX were sent for sampling.
