Steward Report Predict Pace Map
CLOUD NINE and BRAVE LEGEND bumped on jumping. After this, BRAVE LEGEND was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. DYNAMIC EAGLE began awkwardly. RICKFIELD was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. At the 1800 Metres, CHEERFUL STAR, which was being steadied to obtain a position with cover behind DYNAMIC EAGLE, momentarily raced tight between that horse and GOLDFIELD which shifted in marginally. From near the 1600 Metres until near the 700 Metres, DYNAMIC EAGLE travelled keenly and had to be continuously steadied away from the heels of GIANT TURTLE. Near the 950 Metres, CLOUD NINE was bumped by DYNAMIC EAGLE which shifted out when racing keenly. When questioned regarding the performance of CLOUD NINE, K Teetan stated that CLOUD NINE enjoyed a good run outside the eventual winner GIANT TURTLE for the majority of the race. He said when SANGRIA improved to the outside of GIANT TURTLE after the 600 Metres, CLOUD NINE did not immediately quicken, however, he expected this as the horse is somewhat one-paced and he anticipated that CLOUD NINE would take some time to gain momentum. He said after initially maintaining its position between GIANT TURTLE and SANGRIA, CLOUD NINE commenced to give ground rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight and then, despite being fully tested, was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race. He added CLOUD NINE was particularly disappointing in respect of the manner in which it weakened over the concluding stages of the race. He said after the race he was not able to find any reason for the disappointing performance of the horse as it appeared to pull up well. A veterinary inspection of CLOUD NINE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of CLOUD NINE, a favourite for tonight’s race, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CLOUD NINE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CLOUD NINE, GIANT TURTLE and GOLDFIELD were sent for sampling. <25/10/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Officer reported that BRAVE LEGEND was lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, BRAVE LEGEND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
