WITNESS HUNTER began only fairly. After racing in restricted room inside QUADRUPLE DOUBLE (C Schofield) for some distance, PERFECT MATCH was steadied away from the heels of that horse as it crossed towards the rail after leaving the 1000 Metres. C Schofield was severely reprimanded and reminded of his responsibility to provide comfortable racing room and adequate clearance when shifting ground. After the 700 Metres, WITNESS HUNTER was steadied away from the heels of SHINEALOT. At the entrance to the Straight, LE TERROIR and PERFECT MATCH raced tight as PERFECT MATCH shifted to the outside of the heels of QUADRUPLE DOUBLE to obtain clear running. After the race, A Badel stated that SHINEALOT travelled well enough throughout the early and middle stages, however, did not respond to his riding in the Straight and felt "flat”. A veterinary inspection of SHINEALOT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. PERFECT MATCH and QUADRUPLE DOUBLE were sent for sampling.
