RUMINARE began awkwardly and then on jumping bumped with HAPPY SOUND which shifted out. FOREVER KINDNESS began very awkwardly and then on jumping raced tight between LIGHTNING MISSILE and M REBORN which was taken out by BEST GIFT. After this, BEST GIFT was steadied to obtain cover. After initially being ridden along in the early stages, M REBORN was steadied approaching the 1100 Metres to obtain cover. Approaching the first turn near the 900 Metres, WONDERFUL TIGER commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of RUMINARE which shifted in. Passing the 500 Metres, BEST GIFT commenced to travel very keenly and shifted out abruptly when awkwardly placed close to the heels of WONDERFUL TIGER. Passing the 300 Metres, BEST GIFT was shifted in away from the heels of JUMBO BUS to obtain clear running. Passing the 200 Metres, BEST GIFT was steadied away from the heels of JUMBO BUS (C Murray) which shifted ground when laying in under pressure. C Murray was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. BEST GIFT was then shifted out away from the heels of JUMBO BUS and passing the 150 Metres was again steadied away from the heels of DIAMOND LEGEND which was taken in by M REBORN (S de Sousa). S de Sousa was also advised to exercise more care. In the Straight, WONDERFUL TIGER hung in under pressure and proved very difficult to ride and passing the 150 Metres was steadied away from the heels of JUMBO BUS which continued to lay in under pressure. After this, WONDERFUL TIGER continued to hang in under pressure and was not able to be ridden out over the concluding stages. As WONDERFUL TIGER had previously hung in under pressure in prior races, the Stewards ruled that that horse must barrier trial satisfactorily around a bend before being permitted to race again. A veterinary inspection of WONDERFUL TIGER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Throughout the race, LIGHTNING MISSILE travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. K Teetan (DIAMOND LEGEND) was warned against the practice of raising his whip arm above the height of his shoulder. After the race, it was reported that FOREVER KINDNESS had bled from both nostrils. RUMINARE, M REBORN and DIAMOND LEGEND were sent for sampling.
