FAMOUS WARRIOR was slow to begin. RIGHT HONOURABLE stumbled at the start. MONGOLIAN LEGEND and CHUNG WAH SPIRIT bumped at the start. CHUNG WAH SPIRIT was then steadied to obtain a position with cover. From wide barriers, IMPERIAL CONCORDE and SMART BOY were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. TOP LAURELS and CHUNG WAH SPIRIT were both held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight. Passing the 400 Metres, MONGOLIAN LEGEND was bumped by NUCLEAR POWER which shifted out. Passing the 100 Metres, TOP LAURELS was struck over the nose by the whip of M L Yeung (MONGOLIAN LEGEND). For the majority of the race, ELECTRIC LIGHTNING travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of TANG FLEMING and ELECTRIC LIGHTNING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, both horses were unable to be scoped due to being fractious. TOP LAURELS, MONGOLIAN LEGEND and RIGHT HONOURABLE were sent for sampling.
