CAPTAIN BOSS was withdrawn on 8.1.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (respiratory infection) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter WAH MAY PRINCESS (K Teetan). Before being allowed to race again, CAPTAIN BOSS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Shortly after the start, DOMINATOR raced tight between HAPPY COOPERATION and GOOD COMPANION which was taken in by EXCEPTIONAL DESIRE which got its head on the side and shifted in away from WAH MAY PRINCESS. Also shortly after the start, SUPER LUCKY and HAPPY COOPERATION bumped. From the outside barriers, MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE and LONDON MASTER were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 850 Metres, DOMINATOR raced tight between ALL GREAT FRIENDS which was taken out marginally by SPLIT OF A SECOND and WAH MAY PRINCESS which shifted in before being directed back out by its rider. Near the 750 Metres, SUPER LUCKY got its head up when momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHARPMIND. Near the 700 Metres, ALL GREAT FRIENDS was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 300 Metres, LONDON MASTER was shifted to the inside of MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE after being disappointed for running outside that horse which shifted out away from the heels of HAPPY COOPERATION. After being shifted to the inside of MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE, LONDON MASTER was then shifted out away from the heels of HAPPY COOPERATION near the 250 Metres as that horse commenced to give ground. Close to the finishing line, ALL GREAT FRIENDS was awkwardly placed outside the heels of GOOD COMPANION. For the majority of the race, WAH MAY PRINCESS travelled very wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. After the race, U Rispoli stated that although JIMSON THE DRAGON had barrier trialed at Happy Valley, he believed that the horse’s disappointing performance could be attributed to it racing for the first time at this venue. He added that, in his opinion, JIMSON THE DRAGON may not have been suited by having to be ridden hard in the early stages to take up a forward position from its favourable barrier as instructed. A veterinary inspection of JIMSON THE DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY COOPERATION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER LUCKY and MISCHIEVOUS SUNDAE were sent for sampling.
