SPARKING KNIGHT began awkwardly. As the start was effected, REWARDING SHINE lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin. REWARDING SHINE then finished tailed out. The performance of REWARDING SHINE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, REWARDING SHINE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of REWARDING SHINE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. The performance of CHATER KING, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CHATER KING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of CHATER KING immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. R Bayliss (CHATER KING) was fined $5,000 for unnecessary use of the whip on a horse out of contention. A veterinary inspection of GALA NIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. AETHERO and WINNING METHOD were sent for sampling.
