IMPERIAL GALLANTRY was withdrawn on 13.4.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inflamed left front fetlock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter WORLD FAMOUS (K Teetan). Before being allowed to race again, IMPERIAL GALLANTRY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As the start was effected, NEW ELEGANCE became fractious, put its head down and consequently was slow to begin. RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE and DEFINING MOMENT bumped at the start. WORLD FAMOUS began awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with SOUTHERN SUPERSTAR, causing both horses to become unbalanced. From a wide barrier, UNICORNBABY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1300 Metres, EARTH TRILOGY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SOUTHERN SUPERSTAR as that horse was being steadied to obtain cover behind WORLD FAMOUS. Then passing the 1200 Metres, EARTH TRILOGY became awkwardly placed behind PRECIOUSSHIP which, when proving very difficult to settle, got its head up on a number of occasions when racing behind TRAVEL FIRST. EARTH TRILOGY then continued to race close to the heels of PRECIOUSSHIP until passing the 1100 Metres. Near the 1000 Metres, PRECIOUSSHIP got its head up when continuing to travel keenly and awkwardly placed behind TRAVEL FIRST. PRECIOUSSHIP was then left racing wide and without cover after the 1000 Metres. After improving to be racing outside the heels of SUPER ELEGANCE after the 500 Metres, RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE was then steadied and shifted to the inside of that horse near the 400 Metres when disappointed for running between SUPER ELEGANCE and DEFINING MOMENT. At the entrance to the Straight, BEAUTY DAY was shifted in away from the heels of WORLD FAMOUS to obtain clear running. Passing the 300 Metres, SUPER ELEGANCE was awkwardly placed behind UNICRON JEWELLERY when attempting to improve into tight running between that horse and DEFINING MOMENT. Near the 250 Metres, SOUTHERN SUPERSTAR shifted in and bumped TRAVEL FIRST. Near the 200 Metres, BEAUTY DAY, which was laying out, was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of WORLD FAMOUS which shifted in. Approaching the 100 Metres, WORLD FAMOUS shifted out and brushed SOUTHERN SUPERSTAR. After the 100 Metres, BEAUTY DAY, which continued to lay out, raced tight inside WORLD FAMOUS. After the race, C Schofield stated that after being slow to begin, NEW ELEGANCE travelled keenly when the pace of the race was only moderate. He said NEW ELEGANCE then did not finish off the race and, in his opinion, did not handle today’s track conditions. A veterinary inspection of NEW ELEGANCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of UNICORNBABY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. DEFINING MOMENT, EVER LAUGH and SOUTHERN SUPERSTAR were sent for sampling.
