On arrival at the Start, it was noted that EAGLE had a minor laceration above the right nostril. EAGLE was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. PRANCE DRAGON and VICTORY MACHINE bumped at the start. CEREFINO shifted out at the start and bumped ENDEARING. MIGHTY POWER was crowded for room on jumping between E MASTER which began awkwardly and DRAGON PIONEER which shifted out. In this incident, E MASTER became unbalanced after being bumped by MIGHTY POWER. After this, E MASTER and MIGHTY POWER were shifted across behind runners from wide barriers. Despite being vigorously ridden for some distance in the early stages, BEAUTY LOYAL failed to muster speed. Making the first turn after the 1100 Metres, VICTORY MACHINE raced in restricted room between EAGLE and HARBOUR ALERT which shifted out marginally. Throughout the race, DRAGON PIONEER travelled wide and without cover and when racing wide got its head on the side and lay out making the turns after the 600 Metres. DRAGON PIONEER consequently gave ground in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of DRAGON PIONEER immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. Also throughout the race, VERY RICH MAN travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of VERY RICH MAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of VERY RICH MAN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, VERY RICH MAN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Approaching the 200 Metres, EAGLE was momentarily crowded for room between LOVING A BOOM and PRANCE DRAGON (A Domeyer) which shifted out. A Domeyer was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. Passing the 200 Metres, CEREFINO raced tight inside HARBOUR ALERT. Close to the finishing line, LOVING A BOOM shifted in and bumped PRANCE DRAGON, causing its rider, A Domeyer, to become unbalanced. A veterinary inspection of EAGLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. PRANCE DRAGON and LOVING A BOOM were sent for sampling.
