SAVVY SEVEN was withdrawn on 1.6.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inflamed upper limbs both front legs). Before being allowed to race again, SAVVY SEVEN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. G van Niekerk (TENNESSEE BOSS) was fined $2,000 for presenting himself to be weighed out with the incorrect saddle cloth number. TENNESSEE BOSS was slow to begin. From wide barriers, WINNING CONTROLLER, FORTUNE HAPPINESS and DIVINE POWER were all steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. GALLANT LEGACY lost ground when badly crowded for room on jumping between SONIC FIGHTER and FAIRY FLOSS (M Harley) which shifted out abruptly despite the endeavours of its rider. M Harley reported that after this FAIRY FLOSS continued to lay out and travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. Passing the 1100 Metres, DIVINE POWER commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when being shifted away from the heels of YOUNG POWER. Near the 1050 Metres, TENNESSEE BOSS was shifted in away from the heels of YOUNG POWER which shifted in when awkwardly placed inside the heels of LITTLE WISE MAN. Approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, LITTLE WISE MAN over-raced and got its head up for some distance when awkwardly placed behind DIAMOND LEGEND and inside SONIC FIGHTER. After the 1000 Metres, SONIC FIGHTER was left racing wide and without cover. Near the 450 Metres, SONIC FIGHTER was bumped by DIAMOND LEGEND which shifted out to obtain clear running. J Moreira (WINNING CONTROLLER) dropped his whip near the 300 Metres. Approaching the 200 Metres, TENNESSEE BOSS raced tight inside DRAGON DANCE. Near the 50 Metres, DRAGON DANCE, which was giving ground, was steadied away from the heels of TENNESSEE BOSS (G van Niekerk) which shifted out under pressure. G van Niekerk was severely reprimanded and told to ensure that in similar circumstances he stops riding and straightens his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion. After this, COOLCELEB was bumped by TENNESSEE BOSS which continued to shift out, causing both horses to become unbalanced. The performance of YOUNG POWER, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, YOUNG POWER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of YOUNG POWER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, J Moreira reported that WINNING CONTROLLER’s action felt "stiff and restricted”. WINNING CONTROLLER was subsequently examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING CONTROLLER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also after the race, it was reported that SONIC FIGHTER had sustained a minor laceration to the left front leg. A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE HAPPINESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SWOT WINDICATOR immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the third occasion that SWOT WINDICATOR was found to have bled, that horse is compulsorily retired. LITTLE WISE MAN and SONIC FIGHTER were sent for sampling. <3/6/2019 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Surgeon reported that GALLANT LEGACY was lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, GALLANT LEGACY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
