On arrival at the Start, Z Purton expressed concern regarding the action of WINNING SUPREME. WINNING SUPREME was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse had a restricted action in both front legs and was mildly lame in the right front leg and accordingly was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, WINNING SUPREME was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING SUPREME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FREE VIEW began only fairly and then was crowded for room on jumping between SHANGHAI RUSKY and ALL YOU NEED which shifted out. In this incident, FREE VIEW bumped the hindquarters of SHANGHAI RUSKY which became unbalanced. After this, SHANGHAI RUSKY was steadied to obtain cover. From wide barriers, SWEETIE BARLEY and V CHEVALIERS were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1100 Metres, ALL YOU NEED travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover behind SPEEDY MISSILE. Near the 1050 Metres, SPEEDY MISSILE was awkwardly placed outside BULB ELITE which shifted ground marginally. SPEEDY MISSILE was then steadied to obtain cover, resulting in ALL YOU NEED, which was racing close to the heels of SPEEDY MISSILE, being momentarily awkwardly placed behind that horse. Near the 950 Metres, SOLAR BILLION raced in restricted room between GENTLE BREEZE and SPEEDY MISSILE. ALL YOU NEED made the first turn near the 900 Metres awkwardly, shifted out and inconvenienced V CHEVALIERS. After the 900 Metres, SHANGHAI RUSKY shifted out towards SWEETIE BARLEY. SHANGHAI RUSKY then lost ground near the 800 Metres when momentarily awkwardly placed inside SWEETIE BARLEY which lay in. Approaching and passing the 800 Metres, SPEEDY MISSILE travelled keenly and raced close to the heels of VICTORIAM. Approaching the 300 Metres, SOLAR BILLION was awkwardly placed outside the heels of GENTLE BREEZE. For the majority of the race, BREAK RECORD travelled wide and without cover. After the race, it was reported that SHANGHAI RUSKY had sustained a wound to the outside of the right front fetlock. A veterinary inspection of BULB ELITE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. BULB ELITE, VICTORIAM and SOLAR BILLION were sent for sampling.
