M REBORN, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 6.6.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, M REBORN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TEST THE STARS bounded in the air as the start was effected and then was ridden along in the early stages to obtain a more forward position. SHOW MISSION began awkwardly and then was crowded for room outside YOUNG EMPIRE which also began awkwardly and shifted out. From wide barriers, ADONIS, ROYAL PREROGATIVE, ROOKIE STAR and RAICHU were all steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. ADONIS made the turn near the 900 Metres awkwardly and shifted out towards the heels of ROYAL PREROGATIVE, resulting in ROOKIE STAR and RAICHU being taken wider. RAICHU, which was racing very wide, was then steadied after the 800 Metres to obtain a position with cover behind ROOKIE STAR. After the 900 Metres, ROYAL PREROGATIVE was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 700 Metres, NASHASHUK got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed behind SUPER MODEL. Approaching the 600 Metres, ROOKIE STAR was bumped by ADONIS which shifted out. Approaching the 500 Metres, NASHASHUK got its head on the side and lay out and then made the turn after the 500 Metres awkwardly. After this, NASHASHUK continued to lay out under pressure.. After the race, J Moreira stated that NASHASHUK raced very disappointingly as, other than wanting to lay out during the latter stages of the race, he was unable to offer any explanation for the horse’s failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of NASHASHUK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Rounding the Home Turn, ROOKIE STAR raced tight outside ADONIS which shifted to the outside of ROYAL PREROGATIVE to obtain clear running. Passing the 250 Metres, ROYAL PREROGATIVE was awkwardly placed outside NASHASHUK as that horse lay out. Over the concluding stages, SHOW MISSION was awkwardly placed behind SUPER MODEL. When questioned, H N Wong (AMBITIOUS SPEEDY) stated that he was able to obtain a midfield position in the early stages and making the first turn was following the eventual winner SUPER MODEL. He said when NASHASHUK commenced to shift in near the 900 Metres, he rode his mount along to prevent that horse from being able to shift in, however, AMBITIOUS SPEEDY would not respond to his riding and he was not able to maintain his position. He said after this AMBITIOUS SPEEDY appeared to be reluctant to race amongst runners but nonetheless when obtaining clear running in the Straight was very disappointing in the manner in which it failed to quicken and then did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of AMBITIOUS SPEEDY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on both SUPER MODEL and TEST THE STARS at the request of Trainers C S Shum and D J Hall respectively. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that these examinations showed a substantial amount of blood in the trachea of both horses. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER MODEL and TEST THE STARS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUPER MODEL and ADONIS were sent for sampling. <10/6/2019 Additional Veterinary Report>AMBITIOUS SPEEDY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. AMBITIOUS SPEEDY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer Y S Tsui yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, AMBITIOUS SPEEDY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
