GAINFULJET shifted in abruptly at the start and bumped DELIGHT EXPRESS which became unbalanced and lost ground. SOCCER MASTER began only fairly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of BIG BULLY. SOCCER MASTER was then steadied away from the heels of HURRICANE HUNTER when taken in by BIG BULLY which was taken in by FOX CHEUNGER (A Domeyer) which, after being bumped by KEEP GOING, then shifted in further when being ridden along. A Domeyer was told that whilst the Stewards accepted that KEEP GOING had shifted in initially, nonetheless in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mounts so as to make every endeavour to prevent them from shifting ground and crowding other runners. GREAT SON began awkwardly, shifted in and inconvenienced XIANG HUANG QI. From wide barriers, LIVERBIRD STAR, LUCKY STORM and LOTUS BREEZE were all steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. At the 1000 Metres, FOX CHEUNGER lay in when awkwardly placed behind SUREWIN, resulting in DELIGHT EXPRESS being momentarily crowded for room. Also at the 1000 Metres, KEEP GOING was left racing wide and without cover. Making the turn near the 900 Metres, HURRICANE HUNTER got its head up when racing close to the heels of FOX CHEUNGER. Passing the 700 Metres, LUCKY STORM got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of HURRICANE HUNTER, resulting in LIVERBIRD STAR being inconvenienced and LUCKY STORM losing ground. Near the 550 Metres, GAINFULJET shifted out and bumped SUREWIN. GAINFULJET then had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. SOCCER MASTER was unable to obtain clear running until approaching the 300 Metres. LIVERBIRD STAR lay out approaching and passing the 300 Metres. Near the 250 Metres, DELIGHT EXPRESS was steadied away from the heels of SOCCER MASTER which, after improving to the inside of GAINFULJET, was taken in by that horse. A veterinary inspection of GREAT SON, SUREWIN and KEEP GOING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. HURRICANE HUNTER and BIG BULLY were sent for sampling.
