On arrival at the Start, M Harley expressed concern regarding the action of COMFORT LIFE. COMFORT LIFE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that the horse was lame in its right front leg and accordingly was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, COMFORT LIFE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, COMFORT LIFE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FAMOUS WARRIOR was slow to begin. RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE was steadied to obtain cover shortly after the start. From wide barriers, IMPERIAL CONCORDE, WINNING ENDEAVOUR and PRECIOUSSHIP were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Throughout the race, CHUNG WAH SPIRIT travelled wide and without cover and then after the 600 Metres got its head on the side and lay out. When questioned regarding the performance of EARTH TRILOGY, C Y Ho stated that it was intended for the horse to be ridden just behind the speed if possible. He said despite riding his mount along in the early stages, EARTH TRILOGY did not muster speed and then was left racing three wide after passing the winning post on the first occasion. He said although forced to race wide, EARTH TRILOGY at all times had cover and he became concerned with the manner in which the horse was travelling passing the 800 Metres as it came under heavy pressure. He said EARTH TRILOGY did not respond to his riding and then was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race. He added after the race EARTH TRILOGY appeared to pull up well which left him with the impression that the horse may not have handled the All Weather surface today at its first time of asking under race conditions. A veterinary inspection of EARTH TRILOGY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of FAMOUS WARRIOR and IMPERIAL CONCORDE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, neither horse was able to be scoped due to being fractious. BUDDIES and PING HAI TREASURE were sent for sampling.
