SHOUSON began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped RELENTLESS ME which became unbalanced. AMAZING CHOCOLATE began only fairly. From wide barriers, SUPERB AGILITY, FORTUNATE RUNNER and VILLA FIONN were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages. SHOUSON got its head up when travelling keenly after the 1200 Metres. Passing the 700 Metres, GOLDEN FOUR raced tight inside SHOUSON which improved into tight running inside PARTY EVERYDAY which got its head on the side and lay out. At the 400 Metres, VILLA FIONN was shifted to the outside of LOTUS BREEZE when briefly held up after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of PARTY EVERYDAY which was taken out by FUN TIMES as that horse improved to the outside of SHOUSON. Passing the 400 Metres, SEVENTY SEVENTY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of GOLDEN FOUR. After the 100 Metres, SEVENTY SEVENTY raced tight between LOTUS BREEZE and GOLDEN FOUR which, after initially shifting out and away from MR MAGELLAN (G van Niekerk), was taken out by that horse. G van Niekerk was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Throughout the race, PARTY EVERYDAY travelled wide and without cover. The performance of LUCKY WINDRIDER, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY WINDRIDER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY WINDRIDER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SHOUSON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. A veterinary inspection of FORTUNATE RUNNER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FUN TIMES and RELENTLESS ME were sent for sampling.
