POWERMAX, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 5.10.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, POWERMAX will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ENDEARING and SUMSTREETSUMWHERE came into contact at the start. Soon after the start, HONEST WAY was steadied when crowded for room between SOLOMON’S BAY and SUMSTREETSUMWHERE which raced tight inside ENDEARING (N Callan) which shifted in slightly. N Callan was reprimanded and advised to ensure that in similar circumstances he prevents his mounts from shifting ground and causing interference to other runners. From wide barriers, HERCULES, SALTO OLIMPICO, TOP MILITARY and WINSTON’S LAD were all steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After shifting in to take up a position behind PRIVATE ROCKET approaching the first turn near the 900 Metres, LONE EAGLE got its head up and proved difficult to settle for a short distance. After being crossed by ENDEARING approaching the 800 Metres, SOLOMON’S BAY travelled keenly and was restrained away from the heels of that horse for some distance and then was checked at the 700 Metres. HONEST WAY, which was following, was checked in consequence. Passing the 200 Metres, LONE EAGLE was directed to the outside of CALIFORNIA GUNGHO when unable to proceed between that horse and PRIVATE ROCKET. At the 75 Metres, LONE EAGLE was inconvenienced by CHICKEN DANCE which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. Close to the finishing line, SUMSTREETSUMWHERE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SOLOMON’S BAY. Throughout the race, SUMSTREETSUMWHERE travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of SOLOMON’S BAY and HONEST WAY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CHICKEN DANCE and CALIFORNIA GUNGHO were sent for sampling.
