Trainer K H Ting was fined $3,000 for presenting PHENOMENAL in the Parade Ring without a parade hood, part of that horse’s declared gear. LONDON HALL and VILLA FIONN were slow to begin. BLASTOISE shifted in at the start and hampered SPEEDY OPTIMIST. WITNESS HUNTER shifted out at the start and bumped SMART BABY. From a wide barrier, SAVVY SEVEN was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the 1100 Metres, BLASTOISE was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 900 Metres, THE ONE commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when racing close to the heels of WINNING CONTROLLER. Approaching the 700 Metres, DASHING DART commenced to travel very keenly and was shifted out when being checked away from the heels of SMART BABY. Near the 650 Metres, BLASTOISE was bumped and then raced tight outside LITTLE GENERAL which commenced to travel keenly and shifted out momentarily away from the heels of WITNESS HUNTER which was awkwardly placed behind SPEEDY OPTIMIST. In this incident, LONDON HALL, which was improving to the outside of BLASTOISE, was forced wider. Passing the 600 Metres, DASHING DART was steadied away from the heels of SMART BABY which shifted out from behind LITTLE GENERAL. Approaching the 500 Metres, BLASTOISE momentarily raced in restricted room between LONDON HALL and WITNESS HUNTER which lay out. BLASTOISE was then shifted to the outside of LONDON HALL at the entrance to the Straight to obtain clear running. SAVVY SEVEN had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Passing the 250 Metres, LITTLE GENERAL was shifted out a number of horses to obtain clear running. VILLA FIONN, SUCH A HAPPINESS and BLASTOISE were sent for sampling.
