After being loaded into the barriers, PLEASANT GUY became fractious and momentarily sat down. PLEASANT GUY, which took some time to be removed from the barriers, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, PLEASANT GUY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. PLEASANT GUY began very awkwardly, resulting in its rider, K C Leung, becoming unbalanced. PEGASUS ELITE, which was fractious in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start, and found to be suitable to race. PEGASUS ELITE began very awkwardly and in the initial stages was reluctant to race. The performance of PEGASUS ELITE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, PEGASUS ELITE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial. HAPPY HAPPY STAR shifted out at the start and bumped VOYAGE KING. Passing the 800 Metres, KUNG FU TEA became unbalanced when bumped by PLEASANT GUY which, when racing tight between KUNG FU TEA and VOYAGE KING (G van Niekerk) became unbalanced and shifted ground on a number of occasions. G van Niekerk was advised to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for runners on his inside in similar circumstances. Making the turn near the 700 Metres, VOYAGE KING was crowded for room between SUPREME PATROL and PLEASANT GUY, both of which shifted marginal ground. Approaching the 400 Metres, DOLLAR REWARD raced tight between WAYFOONG CHARMER and FORTUNE HAPPINESS which shifted out marginally. After the 300 Metres, KUNG FU TEA was directed out to obtain clear running. FORTUNE HAPPINESS had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 200 Metres. DOLLAR REWARD was unable to obtain clear running at any stage in the Straight and consequently was not able to be tested. A veterinary inspection of ALL TIMES GRATEFUL and VOYAGE KING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of PEGASUS ELITE and PLEASANT GUY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, both horses were unable to be scoped due to being fractious. FORTUNE HAPPINESS and WAYFOONG CHARMER were sent for sampling.
