YOO YOO KING and JOYFUL TRINITY were crowded for room on jumping between CIRCUIT NUMBER TWO and SUPERICH which shifted out. In this incident, CIRCUIT NUMBER TWO became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by JOYFUL TRINITY. NOBLE STEED began awkwardly and then stumbled when bumped by SUNSET WATCH. From wide barriers, DRAGON GENERAL, NOBLE STEED and SUNSET WATCH were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Despite being ridden along from the outside barrier in the early stages, LITTLE BIRD failed to muster speed. In the early and middle stages, CIRCUIT NUMBER TWO raced with its head on the side and lay in. Passing the 600 Metres, NOBLE STEED got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of JOYFUL TRINITY. NOBLE STEED was then held up for clear running rounding the Home Turn and was shifted to the inside of JOYFUL TRINITY at the entrance to the Straight. Approaching the 350 Metres, DECRYPT was brushed by YOO YOO KING which shifted out. Passing the 200 Metres, TAKING AIM shifted out and raced tight inside the hindquarters of PERFECT MATCH. After initially shifting in away from JOYFUL TRINITY (M F Poon), DECRYPT raced tight inside JOYFUL TRINITY close to the finishing line as that horse shifted in under pressure. M F Poon was told that in similar circumstances he would be expected to straighten his mounts rather than continuing to allow them to shift in under pressure. Close to the finishing line, NOBLE STEED was awkwardly placed close to the heels of TAKING AIM. In the Straight, SUNSET WATCH lay out and proved difficult to ride. Throughout the race, BEAUTY SPIRIT travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of YOO YOO KING immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. PERFECT MATCH and JOYFUL TRINITY were sent for sampling.
