FENRIR was slow to begin. GREAT TREASURE began awkwardly and then raced in restricted room between E MASTER and BEAUTY LOYAL soon after the start. From the outside barrier, FOLLOW ME was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Along the Back Straight. FENRIR got its head up and raced ungenerously before making the turn near the 900 Metres awkwardly. BIG BANG BONG raced wide and without cover from the 1100 Metres and in the Straight gave ground. Passing the 900 Metres, ETHIOPIAN YARN raced tight inside FOLLOW ME as J Moreira, the rider of FOLLOW ME, endeavoured to shift that horse towards the rail. When ETHIOPIAN YARN was able to maintain its position one horse away from the rail behind GUY DRAGON, this obliged FOLLOW ME to shift back out into a three wide position and as a consequence resulted in ULTIMATE GLORY being forced out into a four wide position without cover. At the entrance to the Straight, FENRIR was taken wider by GREAT TREASURE which shifted to the outside of the heels of ULTIMATE GLORY to obtain clear running. When questioned, C Schofield stated that GUY DRAGON travelled comfortably in a midfield position before being brought to the outside of runners on straightening. He said GUY DRAGON initially responded satisfactorily, however, did not close off the race over the final 200 Metres as well as it can and in his opinion raced "flat”. He added he had suggested to connections after the race that they may consider freshening up GUY DRAGON. Trainer W Y So confirmed that in light of GUY DRAGON’s disappointing performance, he intended to give the horse a break from racing. A veterinary inspection of GUY DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. A veterinary inspection of MORE THAN A HORSE and BIG BANG BONG immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SIMPLE ELEGANT and BEAUTY LOYAL were sent for sampling.
