From wide barriers, JOYFUL UNION, FEARLESS FIRE and STAR MAJESTIC were all steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Approaching the 250 Metres, VICTORIAM was crowded for room between SMART LEADER and SHINING ACE which shifted in.
Passing the 200 Metres, SHINING ACE (J Moreira) shifted in and bumped VICTORIAM (B Shinn). SHINING ACE was then corrected by its rider whilst VICTORIAM shifted in away from that horse, causing SMART LEADER to be crowded onto BALLISTIC KING near the 150 Metres. Both J Moreira and B Shinn were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Near the 150 Metres, THE RUNNER was steadied when crowded for room between WINNING FEELING (S de Sousa) which shifted out and BALLISTIC KING (C Schofield) which shifted in. Both S de Sousa and C Schofield were reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances they would be expected to make more effort to keep their mounts on a straight course.
For the majority of the race, VICTORIAM travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of THE RUNNER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
VICTORIAM, JOYFUL UNION and SHINING ACE were sent for sampling.
